Cancer Diet Research
Today, I read daily express newspaper about research that shows cancer linked to diet (research cancer diet) by Mary Chin. According to Professor Dr. Fatimah who heads the Nutrition & Dietetic Department, Faculty of Medicine & Health at the International Medical University Research has shown that cancer is associated with diet (research cancer diet).
She has personally conducted research on diet and cancer (research cancer diet) in Malaysia, and presented its findings at the America Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) in Washington, United States.
The professor in Nutrition, diet and Health said, previously, they related diet to obesity but now the condition of being obese is related to cancer.
“High saturated fats in the body as a result of high consumption of such fats is correlated to breast cancer,” She said after presenting a paper on “Looking At Alternative Foods For Malaysians” at the 4th Nestle Media Workshop organized by Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad here.
Likewise, Prof Dr. Fatimah said, a low intake of fibre food (examples fruits, vegetables, etc) has been associated with cancer of the colon.
“That has been proven a long time back.”
In her own study conducted at UKM, she found that fibre intake among the cancer cases in several government hospitals in Kuala Lumpur was lower as compared to non-cancer cases.
In her presentation on “Looking at Alternative Foods for Malaysians”, Dr. Fatimah said low intake of fibre has been one characteristics of the food pattern in Malaysia since the last 20 years.
The other are increase in the intake of energy by 1,000 kilocalories per person, increase in fat intake by 60 to 100 grams per day and increase in sugar and salt intake.
On the disease pattern in Malaysia since the last two decades, she noted it has been associated with cardiovascular disease, Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, obesity and cancer.
Dr. Fatimah’s research interests are obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular disease, malnutrition, diet and cancer, and nutrition of the elderly.
She has written five books and prepared five video clips with 150 episodes on diet for diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, healthy eating, healthy recipes and behaviour modification in obesity.
Professionally, she is the first President of The Malaysian Dietitians Association (MDA) from 1993 to 1999, and first president of the Parental and Enteral Nutrition Association of Malaysia (Pensma) from 1994 to 1999, and was President of the Asian Federation of Dietitics Association (Afda) from 2002 to 2006. She is a founder member of The Malaysian Association of the study of Obesity (Maso) and the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM).
She was honoured with the 1st Asian Dietitians Award at the 2nd Asian Congress of Dietetics in Korea in 1994 for her outstanding achievements in the Asian region.
She was also granted the Malaysian Government and Commonwealth Scholarships, IDRC (Canada) and UKM for pursuing further studies.

Diet relates to cancer is really a strange thing for me or frankly speaking an unexpectable thing for me. But research tells true and we all have to bleave that. Online Healthy Diet Meal Plans are prepared by nutritionist and suggested by them on request.
Great post! Diet can really play a role in the development of cancer. A food supplement called Spirulina can help prevent or cure cancer. Fortunately, it is becoming more and more available throughout the world. For instance, in the Philippines, it is being sold online through the Spirulina Philippines site.
